Description

Cryptocoryne Balansae is native to waterways of Thailand. It has long slender green leaves with a "puckered" effect on the leaves when it receives adequate lighting. It looks brilliant in medium to large community aquariums when plants in bunches towards the mid to background. Once settled, this plant will readily send off runners and multiple in the aquarium.

Difficulty

Easy to keep. Best to keep with species of fish that do not consume plant material. Does best in stable water parameters.

  • Temperature: 22 - 26°C
  • pH: 6.5 – 7.2
  • Water Hardness: 100 - 150 ppm

Midground to background placement in the aquarium.  

Growth Rate

Slow growth rate and enjoys nutrient rich substrate, although not essential. Liquid fertilizers, root tabs or aquarium plant substrates are all beneficial. Balansae will utilize nutrients (Nitrate) in the water column. Co2 is not essential, but can be used for accelerated growth and lush growth.

Lighting

Balansae requires low to moderate lighting requirements. Moderate lighting encourage new and lush growth with leaves developing a "puckered" ripple like effect.
