We have the technical experience
Our technicians were the first to research and develop the most successful lighting ever produced in the history of marine aquariums, utilizing a colour temperature of 10000 Kelvin. You can depend on their ten years plus
experience in manufacturing lighting systems to always provide you with the finest lighting systems anywhere.
No life without light
UFO- a genius lighting system
The correct amount, and more importantly, the right type of light are an imperative pre-requisite. Only with the right type of light can plants extract carbon from CO2 (carbonic acid).
In a salt water aquarium light is especially important since it houses mostly light sensitive animals, such as corals which need light energy to gain food by converting into amino acids. The special qualities of salt water alters the colours of the incoming sunlight dependent on the depth. Here it is interesting to find that the color blue can penetrate the water furthest while the reds are already filtered out in the first few meters.
Invertebrates in the reefs have adapted to these light circumstances most perfectly over thousands of years, allowing an optimum energy extraction.
The relation of the reds and blues present in the water is measured in Kelvin degree. Low Kelvin readings have a low amount of blues,
high Kelvin readings show a large amount of blues. It is interesting to know that natural sunlight has approx 6000 Kelvin on the waters surface compared to 12000 Kelvin ten meters below the water level. Since our aquariums are usually less than one meter deep these extreme colour temperatures do not occur. To ensure a nature close simulation and successful care, light with a colour temperature of approx 8000 - 12000 Kelvin needs to be used.
Although the Kelvin measurement expresses the ratio of blues and reds this gives no indication of a colour. For example, a source of light of 10000 Kelvin may be green, blue or red. In this context it is worth mentioning that the common use of Lux as a measurement to judge an aquarium light is completely unsuitable. Lux does not give us a value reflecting the complete colour spectrum instead referring only to those the human eyes are most sensitive to can see. OUR aquarium lighting system is not made to cover human demands but to satisfy the needs of the invertebrates (saltwater) / pla
The Ufo lighting system allows plenty of variations with only two housing shapes. The mentioned types may also be equipped only with fluorescent tubes or you can have only two wings mounted together. And of course we can fulfill your personal equip-colour and power wishes. All Ufo models have a strong, corrosion resistant, powder coated finish!
