Aquarium Lighting
We have the technical experience!
Our technicians were the first to research and develop the most successful lighting ever produced in the history of marine aquariums, utilizing a colour temperature of 10000 Kelvin. You can depend on their ten years plus experience in manufacturing lighting systems to always provide you with the finest lighting systems anywhere at any price.

Without Light - No Life!
This law of nature gains special importance when biotops and nature cycles are simulated in aquariums. The correct amount, and more importantly, the right type of light are an imperative pre-requisite. Only with the right type of light can plants extract carbon from CO2 (carbonic acid).
In a salt water aquarium light is especially important since it houses mostly light sensitive animals, such as corals which need light energy to gain food by converting into amino acids. The special qualities of salt water alters the colrs of the incoming sunlight dependent on the depth. Here it is interesting to find that the color blue can penetrate the water furthest while the reds are already filtered out in the first few meters.
Invertebrates in the reefs have adapted to these light circumstances most perfectly over thousands of years, allowing an optimum energy extraction.
The relation of the reds and blues present in the water is measured in Kelvin degree. Low Kelvin readings how a low amount of blues, high Kelvin readings show a large amount of blues. It is interesting to know that natural sunlight has approx 6000 Kelvin on the waters surface compared to 12000 Kelvin ten meters below the water level. Since our aquariums are usually less than one meter deep these extreme colour temperatures do not occur. To ensure a nature close simulation and successful care, light with a colour temperature of approx 8000 - 12000 Kelvin needs to be used.
Although the Kelvin measurement expresses the ratio of blues and reds this gives no indication of a colour. For example, a source of light of 10000 Kelvin may be green, blue or red. In this context it is worth mentioning that the common use of Lux as a measurement to judge an aquarium light is completely unsuitable. Lux does not give us a value reflecting the complete colour spectrum instead referring only to those the human eyes are most sensitive to can see. OUR aquarium lighting system is not made to cover human demands but to satisfy the needs of the invertebrates (saltwater) / plants (freshwater), and these are simply two different matters!
For this reason it is not sufficient to measure the light source with a Lux meter to check for a possible need of alteration since it does not cater for certain light specs which are important for the healthy aquarium. When checking the readings of a lightsource, the Lux meter shows nearly no change whilst really the light composition has clearly altered.
Conclusively it may be noted that even though a large number of light measuring tools exists (Lux, RA-Index, Kelvin...) not one is sufficient to judge the light for an aquarium lamp since they have all been created for the human eye-sight.

Ufo, a genius of a lighting system with all the possibilities
The Ufo lighting system allows plenty of variations with only two housing shapes. The mentioned types may also be equipped only with fluorescent tubes or you can have only two wings mounted together. And of course we can fulfill your personal equip-colour and power wishes. All Ufo models have a strong, corrosion resistant, powder coated finish!

LIGHT - Technical Information
For years, much effort has been invested into producing an aquarium lighting system simulating nature as perfectly as possible. Advances in technology have improved the quality of the lighting whilst at the same time the knowledge regarding the requirements of plants, fish and invertebrates has grown. Consequently we are continually faced with a fresh challenge.
This is particularly true of sea water aquariums where much knowledge has been gained about care and breeding such that the correct day time lighting alone no longer suffices. The effect of the night time light and moon phases has to be taken into account to create a near to perfect simulation and stimulate the spawning of, for example, corals.
Additionally the customers demands must be satisfied both in terms of an aesthetically pleasing design and a user friendly lighting control system. At the same time the aquarium needs to remain easily accessible for maintenance.
All of these demands are fulfilled both for the aquarium inhabitants and for the aquarium owner by the luxury lighting Ufo-Complet.
In this form, the Ufo is a unique combination of the optimal night and day light simulation and maintenance requirements, provided by moveable wings which allow easy access to the aquarium. Also no switching on/off times need to be programmed. A complete simulation program for day and night makes setting of times superfluous.
