The Dispar Anthias, commonly known as the Madder Seaperch and are suited for the intermediate aquarist. It is a peaceful species with a beautiful colour variation depending on sex. The males have a bright red dorsal fin and the female displays a yellow to orange top which pale lavender on the underside.

The Dispar Anthias is native to the reefs of Fiji, Solomon Islands, Maldives and Indonesia.

Dispar Anthias are peaceful fish and make great tank mates.  They can be kept as a school of females or within a mated pair but is important only have one male kept within the tank due to aggression.  

 

Feeding:

Dispar Anthias are carnivores so their diet should consist of frozen mysis and brine shrimp and copepods. High quality flake foods can also be added up to 3-5 times a day. These fish are grazers and feed on zooplankton within the tank.

 

Equipment:

Aquarium:

Dispar Anthias are best suited to a longer aquarium as they are shallow water fish. A minimum tank size of 250L is required when housed singly or larger for additional fish. These fish happily live in groups of up to 10 females and one male but the tank size must be increased to 470L.

Dispar Anthias require good filtration and water quality. They are active fish and swim counter-current so it is recommended to have a good powerhead.
